About this screen:

We apologise that you have to complete this step to register to express your interest in parallel villages, but the Internet now has automatic "spam bots" - small programs that crawl the internet looking for places to leave their message... usually asking the reader to go to their web site. Apparently for every million people who see such a message one or two actually go there, so it becomes a numbers game. To prevent this, software engineers have designed Captcha Spam Prevention screens that ask the user to do something that a program would not. In this screen, the letters are actually an image, so the bot will have to have image recognition to enter the key. Some Captcha ask you to add numbers like "what is 47 plus 1?" or answer a question like "what color was General Lee's grey horse?". It promises to be a cat and mouse game as bot writers encounter the new challenge questions and write programs to break through them.
